This Oak Park bungalow got a major facelift. With all new hardscaping--from stone work to a shade structure to a new deck and fencing--the plant design would need to equally be as compelling. Many native and drought-resistent plantings were utilized in an effort to minimize unnecessary watering, but this modern garden is warm and serves as a striking backdrop when entertaining.

One requirement the homeowners had was a vegetable garden. Not wanting the space to feel un-designed, the vegetable garden was incorporated into the design using the same accent brick as the planting beds. The raised plots not only added to the overall look and feel, but the plantings add a unique lushness.
